Emergency Needs Fund

Healing Justice Santa Barbara’s Black Community Emergency Fund is crucial in addressing the financial barriers that disproportionately impact Black individuals and families. This fund plays a vital role in eliminating obstacles related to housing, education, transportation, health, and other essential needs. By providing immediate financial support, we help alleviate the strain on those facing unexpected crises, ensuring they can maintain stability and access critical resources.

"We understand that our collective healing and liberation is essential to creating a more equitable Santa Barbara, therefore we center, uplift, and meaningfully create space that empowers ALL Black people including; Black LGBTQ+ people, Black people with disabilities, undocumented Black people, underserved Black people and Black people that speak in African American Vernacular English. In keeping with the principles of a healing justice framework, we demand that self-care be reimagined as collective investment in community care. " - HJSB

Healing justice support during COVID-19 was a true lifeline for me, especially after the loss of business and clientele. The financial assistance provided helped me stay afloat during a time when my income had all but disappeared. With this support, I was able to cover essential expenses and focus on rebuilding without the constant stress of immediate financial strain.
