Healing Justice Santa Barbara (HJSB) is proud to collaborate with Santa Barbara Unified School District (SBUSD), for the first annual Back to School: Black Family Cookout. This partnership is a part of a series of Black-centered events and programming intended to uplift and affirm the experiences of Black students throughout the district.

As a Black led collective, our knowledge and experiences as mothers and caregivers is often undervalued, as historically, Black women and femme caregivers have envisioned our highest ideals of liberation. During this fellowship we invite participants to lean into our identities and share our knowledge.
