Black Student Alliance (BSA)

Our Black Student Alliance is a collection of black identifying high school students that we mentor. Through empowerment and advocacy, we amplify their voices and provide platforms for expression and visibility for our mentees. The goal is to build community amongst these students, so that they have a larger support group as they navigate life. Our Student Mentors nurture these future leaders by equipping them with skills and resources, which ultimately promotes a positive change in their lives since advocacy of our youth is important.

A short recap of the 1st Annual Back 2 School: Black Family Cookout in August 2023. This is an introduction event HJSB hosts in partnership with SBUSD to welcome Black students and their families back to school.

School Campus Visits

Our College Peer Mentors are here to support high school students during their Black Student Union club meetings, providing guidance, encouragement, and valuable insights from their own experiences. These mentors facilitate engaging discussions, help students navigate challenges, and foster a positive environment where everyone can thrive.

College Tours

Join us for transformative college campus tours designed to expose high school students to higher education options that reflect their identities and cultural backgrounds. These tours provide a unique opportunity to explore diverse campuses, meet current students, and discover resources that affirm their experiences. By showcasing institutions that celebrate inclusivity and representation, we aim to empower youth to envision their futures and pursue paths that resonate with their values

Community Building

Our youth activities focus on fostering relationship building and community growth, creating inclusive and healthy experiences for all participants. Through interactive workshops, group projects, and fun social events, we encourage young people to connect, collaborate, and celebrate their unique identities. These activities not only promote teamwork and communication skills but also empower youth to create supportive networks that uplift one another
